In this episode, we shine a spotlight on some amazing rising kids' book stars. Each author has had an amazing 2019, whether releasing their debut picture books or middle grade novels, or embarking on a new phase of their career.

First up, we chat with Lisa Siberry, the author of debut middle grade novel The Brilliant Ideas of Lily Green. The book won the 2017 Ampersand Prize, so we chat about the inspiration behind the story, plus Lisa's tips on writing a compelling book for kids.

Next, we meet Amelia McInerney, who has exploded onto the scene this year. Hear about her first two picture books, The Book Chook and Bad Crab, and the huge haul of new picture books on her near horizon.

We also meet Fiona Hardy, author of debut novel How to Make a Movie in 12 Days, which was shortlisted for the Text Prize. Delve into her writing journey, and hear about her many other bookish hats.

And last but not least, meet the dynamic Katrina McKelvey, who has had an amazing breakout year in 2019, with two picture books released following her 2015 debut, Dandelions.

In addition to our interviews, join all the fun of our usual bookish banter!
